Responsible Use of Short Links

LE59 Link provides short links and QR codes that are easy to share — and easy to keep safe, as long as every user plays their part.

Validation Before Creation

Before a short link or QR code is created, the system validates the target URL and blocks:

  • dangerous protocols (non-http/https executable schemes);
  • intranet and reserved addresses (so links never point into internal networks);
  • metadata addresses and self-referencing links;
  • dangerous characters and other abnormal content.

Blocked URLs cannot be turned into short links. Every link has an explicit state machine: active, disabled, expired, blocked.

Prohibited Behavior

  • Do not use short links to spread illegal, infringing, fraudulent, phishing or malicious content.
  • Do not use short links to bypass platform restrictions or trick people into clicking.
  • QR codes point to the same targets as short links and are bound by the same rules.

Reporting and Review

Any visitor can report a suspicious link. The full report → review → block → appeal → unblock flow keeps audit records: blocking never deletes history, and unblocking never erases the original block record.

Expiry Recommendations

Set a sensible expiry for your use case: disable or delete short-lived campaign links once the event ends, and clean up links you no longer use to reduce the chance of misuse.
